The Bradley eyewash station (S19224PDC) is designed to be wall-mounted. It is equipped with a yellow plastic bowl and a hinged dust cover made of clear plastic. The piping is made of galvanized steel and is coated with a yellow protective coating known as Bradtect. The eyewash station is approved according to the American standard ANSI Z358.1-2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This\neyewash station is wall-mounted. It is activated in a single movement by\ntilting the lid. Once activated, the eyewash remains in operation until it is\nmanually closed by returning the cover to its original position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This\neyewash station allows a flow rate greater than 0.4 GPM (1.5 L\/min) at 30 PSI.\nThis without automatic water temperature control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This model is specially designed for eye rinsing. This type of equipment is often found in areas where household products are handled. It is not recommended to choose this model in the presence of strong acids or alkalis (bases). Before choosing an eyewash station, it is important to carefully analyze the risks incurred by workers. Models that allow simultaneously rinsing of the eyes and face are also available. The same applies to more elaborate models called combined models<\/a> that allow rinsing the eyes, face and body simultaneously or alternately. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Water\nsupply lines should provide adequate flow. The diameter of the pipe to supply\nthe recommended shower is \u00bd in. The addition of a regulation thermostatic valve\nis required. The water must remain at a warm temperature for the duration of\nthe rinse. The minimum duration varies according to the aggressor product.\nTherefore, it is important to make sure that there will be no lack of hot water\nduring periods of frost. In Canada, January and February are often the coldest\nmonths of the year. If the water is too cold, it is impossible to stay in the\nshower and if the temperature is too hot, you risk aggravating your injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have workers who work in isolated areas or who are alone. In such a case, the addition of an alarm system on the emergency shower<\/a> is essential. This is the only way to alert the first responders and assist the victim quickly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recommendation\nfor the location of the eyewash station.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The eyewash\nstation should be accessible to workers in less than 10 seconds. In addition,\nthe distance between the risk area and the eyewash station should not exceed 30\nmetres. It is recommended that showers be located 3 to 6 metres (10 to 20 feet)\ncloser together in the case of highly corrosive liquids. Preferably install\nthem near traffic lanes or near emergency exits. They will be easier to spot\nthan if the shower is installed in a remote corner of your business where no\none has ever ventured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ensure safe\nclearance around the perimeter of the eyewash station. When these showers are\nin operation, they can generate large amounts of water splashes. Therefore,\nmake sure there are no electrical cords on the floor or electrical equipment\nnearby. In addition, the victim should not be electrocuted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Choosing a\nshower location in a temperate zone remains an essential objective. The same\napplies to all water supply lines. Every effort should be made to avoid\ntemperature variations or temperature losses caused by long distances. Remember\nto install the hot water tank as close as possible to the shower, as heat loss\nwill be less in winter. Make sure that there is no risk of frost throughout the\nentire installation. Be aware that there are also body emergency showers for\nareas where there is a risk of freezing, obviously they are more expensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nmaintenance of your emergency eyewash station.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is\nrecommended that you purge stagnant water from the eyewash station pipes once a\nweek. This will avoid rinsing the victim’s eyes with water contaminated with\nmicroorganisms, limescale or rust. We recommend implementing a small inspection\nprocedure during which a person in charge will have to activate the shower for\n1 to 3 minutes, check the water temperature, the proper diffusion of the water\njets, write the date of the inspection on an inspection card and finally check\nthe clearance around the shower. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
